What users usually come here for

  • Finding the right policy or handbook section quickly.
  • Understanding what a result means and where it came from.
  • Learning how folders, uploads, and chat history work.
  • Troubleshooting login or session issues without guessing.

Ask better questions

  • Use the document or policy name when you know it.
  • Ask for the exact thing you want back: summary, bullets, steps, dates, or source lines.
  • Say who the answer is for, such as staff, student, or instructor.
Example: “Find the cancel before start policy in the RDPN Student Handbook 2025 and explain it in plain language.”

Use folders and history

  • Keep chats grouped by topic so follow-up questions stay organized.
  • Use folder filters when a project starts getting busy.
  • Rename chats clearly so they are easy to find later.
Tip: Create separate folders for policies, AMP work, UKG work, and testing.

Upload and ingest files

  • Upload source files when you want sciOAISIS to answer from your material.
  • Ingest is for indexing and retrieval, not just attachment storage.
  • Large files can take a moment before they are ready to search.
Best use: handbooks, policy PDFs, procedures, forms, and internal guides.

Common prompt patterns

“Summarize this policy for a student.”
“What page is this on, and quote the key condition?”
“Compare this year’s handbook wording to the prior version.”

Troubleshooting

I am not signed in
  • If you are redirected to Microsoft, the session likely expired.
  • Sign in again and refresh once if the page still looks anonymous.
The answer looks incomplete
  • Ask for the source, page, or document section directly.
  • Try naming the handbook, policy, or date range in the prompt.
Uploads are not showing up
  • Wait a moment for ingest to finish on larger files.
  • Confirm the file type is one your workflow expects.
Session or OAuth issues
  • Try a fresh browser window or clear site cookies if login loops.
  • Use the correct sciOAISIS path rather than an old bookmarked URL.
